Can't vote? Send poetry!

I couldn't vote today. I failed to register in my new town on time. But I did do one thing today. I submitted a second poem to Poets Against War. In 2004 I published a poem on their site, "poinsettias and flags." I'll let you know when my latest one has been published.

Be sure to check out Howard Zinn's articel in the Poets Against War Fall 2006 Newsletter. Zinn writes:
Whenever I become discouraged (which is on alternate Tuesdays, between three and four) I lift my spirits by remembering: the writers are on our side! I mean those poets, novelists, playwrights and songwriters who speak to the world in a way that is impervious to assault because they wage the battle for justice in a sphere which is unreachable by the dullness of ordinary political discourse.
In related news, I have had two poems accepted for publication this week. One in DreamSeeker Magazine and another in Alba: A Journal of Short Poetry. Watch this blog for the announcement of their publication in the coming months. Five more poems are pending with another, and larger magazine, and could take several months for a decission.
